I had the rare opportunity to attend a lecture at CCS with my fellow Cardesignfetish (www.cardesignfetish.com) colleagues, listening to Scott Robertson talk about the growing entertainment industry! I love this guy! He is the archetype of an individual that has Drive, Determination, Discipline, and Drawing that has catapulted him to the success that he is. Listening to Scott should give you enough insite on what it takes to become proficient in your area of expertise and competitive in the entertainment industry.
Scott has had a terrific career with a wide variety of expertise from designing killer bikes, medical products, Hotwheels, numerous vehicles and miscellaneous designs for feature films. He is also an established entrepreneur, having owned a design consultancy firm working along side fellow designer Neville Page. Robertson than went on to create Design Studio Press in 2002, a publishing company which has published over 25 books in design including his own , “Start Your Engines” and the soon to be released “Drive.” Scott has also created some outstanding educational dvds available at http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com. The Gnomon Workshop is an educational curriculum specializing in developing students in the field of entertainment design.
I was so inspired and charged up after watching his lecture. Sometimes it’s really difficult to not get intimidated by stellar talent but you have to put things in perspective. Such talent should be only be viewed as a means for inspiration. With hard work and perseverance, you can accomplish anything in life! So without further delay…check out the video lectures below. I only wish that I had taken some better quality vids. Unfortunately my HD camera ran out of juice so I had to switch to the Droid. Enjoy!
